cant network computers

I am trying to connect my desktop and my laptop the desktop is wired the and I am using a wireless router . I can get on internet fine with both. I tried using the network wizard and got the key and put it in my laptop but they still dont see each other. I have had a network before but I have bought a new computer and replaced router.
I am using a linksys modem and a belkin wireless g router both machines are using winxp

Do both computers have the exact same user account on both? Have you logged into them at least once ...and is file and print sharing protocols enabled?

Successful Sharing involves some general consideration in Network settings, http://www.ezlan.net/sharing.html As well as specific adjustment of each computer according to what is allowed to be shared.
