View Full Version : Comcast & Linksys
OK.... let's see if anyone has an answer to this one....?
A house has Comcast connection... working fine.
Into that is plugged a Wireless Linksys Broadband Router... seems to work fine as (1) desktop CPU (WinXP) is connected to the router by a cable.
But (2) other laptops -- one with WinXP and one with Vista -- are not connecting wirelessly. The Vista laptop says that it is connected but with limited access.
Where does the fault lie?

Comcast and the Internet have nothing to do with this issue.
It is probably miss-configuration of your LAN Wireless settings.
Unfortunately, just stating that it does not work is not enough providing information to help solving the problem.
Read the content of these pages and you might be able self-Solve.

thank you for this post!
we also have linksys wireless router while living in a comcast serviced apt.
i moved in last November. Comcast techs visited and set up my account without having to install software on my computer (laptop or otherwise).
immediately after comcast techs left, a relation removed the comcast router and replaced with a linksys.
my tv/phone/internet worked fine from the cable until yesterday! my browser now defaults to the comcast site asking me to download their software, otherwise i cannot be online!!
i do not want to download their software. and i told my two kids not to do so either.
i have my lan and wireless tcp/ip protocol set up to automatically detect connection on my laptop. probably the same on the other two computers.
if our computers (two laptops and a desktop) already had perfectly good working connection, and do not want to load comcast software and possible hidden bloat crap, is there a workaround?
please help someone ::wave
