are you sharing the internet connection with the other PC?

so is PC2 going through PC1 to get o the net?

I would get rid of the pop-ups first, sounds like you have an adware program installed that is sending pop-ups. That can be solved right here on majorgeeks, there is a link to an adware program that will search and get rid of all that software that is doing that. You can read about adware here: http://www.simplythebest.net/info/spyware.html This could be one of the problems as to why the game is kicking you out to the desktop. Is the game minimized when it comes out? Do you have all the latest patches on the game? If both computers see each other, and the game works, then there is no networking problem, although if your pings are high then there might be a configureation problem. Or even a bad cable.

hi ppl, thanks for the reply.first of kodo i was running 1 comp through the other, now ive invested in a netgear router, which is to early to tell if it will work or not? also iceburg the game just closes it self?ive also running noads which is quite good but also drops me back to windows for a second.then when i return to game it lags for a min or two, also got adaware which i run every couple days, but still getting 60-70 popups a day.a new one now is script error on this page do you want to keep running scripts on this page, this will come up 3-4 times at once. but not when when im running a browser it just pops up 4-5 times a day out of the blue.very frustrating.il try to capture exactly what error is then post it,,,anyway thanks for your help, btw ive had 4 popups writing this=(

the router should handle your setup better. as for the pop-ups, you definately have some ad-ware your machine. What version of Ad-Aware are you using?

Are they pop-up webpages, or the messanger service pop-ups?

lol iceburg im a old married man:D so i do stay away from porn sites.they are popup web pages, everything from vegas gambling to kill popups:) adaware is 5.0.8.5 lavasoft does that seem right?the other problem is a netsprings error, which say`s problem unning scripts on this page do you want to proceed.its just like another anoying popup.but you may be right with format, should i have any problems with router & internet connections?

you have an outdated Ad-Aware .. uninstall that one.. download the new one
http://www.majorgeeks.com/article.php?sid=506
and the updated reference file
http://www.majorgeeks.com/article.php?sid=726

then scan and see what you come up with.

Iceburg

Yes, delete them.

Iceburg

I guess I could be more clear, yes, delete them, placing them on your ignore list I think just makes it so that you don't see them in adware anymore, if you delete them it deletes whatever is sending those pop-ups to you.

cant seem to work out how to delete them?tried removing them from ignore list but thats not it,do i have to go to each one @manually remove?

Iceburg

I used a different one, hold up, I am installing some adware, and the adware remover. =)

Go into your ignore list, and select the first, and hold shift, and select the last, and press delete. I only placed one in my ignore list, but I think you asked if you had to do each one, one by one. You might have to now, that you have done it that way, I am sure there is a way though, keep looking.

Keep at it, have your son do it, something, once you get rid of these, we can get the rest of the prob fixed.

rick, in addtion to using Ad-aware, i recommend using ...Spybot Search & Destroy (http://www.majorgeeks.com/article.php?sid=2471&cat=31), they catch nearly all spyware/adware when used together. as for the Network problem, the router should fix that...
