i have 4 pc's and a notebook linked by both a wired (4pc's) and wireless (notebook) network. I also have 3 printers. I can find 2 of the printers on the network and print from them, but cannot find the third printer. The printer I cannot find (lets call it library to make it identifiable) is connected to a pc and prints fine from that (library) pc. When searching for the library printer, from another pc I can see the Library PC, which has a plus sign next to it, but I cannot open the plus sign to get to a printer below it.
Oddly, the library pc can find the other printers attached to other pc's.
Does anyone have any ideas as to why I cannot find the 3rd printer.
Did you allow the printer to be shared?

Yes, it is allowed to share. I can see the PC but just found I cannot ping it, even though I can get internet access "out" from the pc
I've set up two or three shared printers myself and what your describing sounds like a firewall problem to me. I would try disabling your firewalls and trying to connect. If it works, then you know what your problem is. If it doesn't... you don't...

Switched off Mcafee firewall and "voila" there was the printer.
So thankyou.
What I do not understand is all my PC's have Mcafee and the others all worked with the firewall turned on.
Even more strange, I turned the Mcafee firewall back on, just for grins, and I can still print thru the library pc/printer that was a problem before, even though once again I cannot see the printer on the network having switched the firewall back on.
Anyway, printing happily, so again thanks.
If you want to be very thorough you could find out how to configure your firewall to allow the printer through.
