I have installed a Belkin wireless g usb adapter on one of my pc's and wish to connect through a Netgear 834g wireless router.
I have it working some of the time, but it is hit and miss as to whether it connects or not whenever I boot up the pc . The Router is always visible on my Belkin software, but I am "not connected" more often than not. If I reboot the pc enough times it will eventually work (going in and out of standby achieves the same thing).

Any suggestions gratefully received!

Thanks for the suggestion. However, it turns out that the Belkin software is pretty lousy (many others have had the same problem) and it all works fine if the driver only is installed and the Belkin software is not.

Make sure that your Wireless Router is broadcasting the SSID.
Look at the properties of the Wireless card and uncheck the power saving.

Try to switch the Wireless Router to channel 1, or 11.
Make sure that none of the original Wireless card utility processes is loaded at startup and it is running in background.
These free utilities might help in the finding and disabling such processes. http://www.ezlan.net/infestation#startup
