Working on a friend's setup- they have a wireless setup in their house.
The problem is that a computer running XP can find the network, but not connect to it.

It is set to infrastructure mode, is a linksys 2.4 ghz card, and a D-Link Access Point.

I believe the source of the trouble is that I don't know how to automatically set the card to automatically get the WEP.

Two other computers in the house run 98 and 2000 respectively and are setup to do so, and I have no idea how to do this in XP (ill admit, im behind the times and need to learn XP)

Any help would be appreciated.

Also-
I am interested in getting my own wireless networking setup and am looking for suggestions on a PCI card and access point. Range is the most important quality, second being speed.

Thanks

A lot of times wireless cards come with a setup/configuration utility or software that overrides the native OS support, and sometimes have better help files. Otherwise, make sure you're connecting to the same 'name' network (name of WAP) as the other pc's, and using the same encryption type (40 bit, etc) and password for WEP. Also check the channel.

The location of XP wireless configurations is the same as wired, Start ->Network Connections, Rt-Click on Wireless adapter->Properties, Network Configuration Tab. That may help.
