I need some advice on where i can find a way to remove broadband caps to increase conn speed. I am running 1.2-1.4 mb/s down on good days but when its busy weekends its gettin real slow 600-800 kb/s. I host a server on a game often so its a problem. I have heard of remarkable speed on my cable isp by removing caps. If anyone has any advice i would aprreciate it. I have tried a few of the downloads from this site but it hasnt done much good. Im near illiterate comp wise so i need help!!! Thks,
A

Welcome to Major Geeks.
We ask that you not cross post. One post in one forum is plenty. Trust me, someone will read it. :)

I just thought I would share one of many articles about uncapping, especially after the new cyber crime bills have become law..

FBI Arrests 17 for uncapping cable modems (http://www.geek.com/news/geeknews/2002Nov/gee20021122017460.htm)

With most ISP's its really not a good Idea, but if your really determined to uncap the procedure depends on the brand of cable modem you have. Most can be uncapped with only a small amount of work.

only way you can legit do it is with an uncapped cable connection. depends what the provider is. my server had a cable conenction with potential for 20Mbit but only when its needed. maybe you can get a simelar deal
