View Full Version : Dual NICs
What I would like done is for my two nics to act as one uber NIC that would run like a 200baseT network line. Yeah... and I have no clue how to do it. I ran through the windows help files but came up with having to use network load balancing or something like that....... i'm . Can anyone help me? thanks.

For one, most new 10/100 cards will do full duplexing, which means that it can transmit and recieve 100 Mbps simultaneously. You can if you want put two nics in your system.
I dont know enough about multi nic computers, but i think if you use windows, you should use 2000 for this. I'm fairly sure it does load balancing. When modems were popular, people would take two 28.8 modems, and come out with a speed nearing that of a modern 56k modem. but nevermind. I mostly deal with routers, which (in the case of larger ones) have multiple nics. i talk too much about useless stuff
Not much experience in load balancing over several NIC's, but maybe these can help:

The settings you should configure:
RandomAdapter=1 which specifies whether it should respond back with a random IP-Address (One for each adapter), or it should respond back with the IP Address for the adapter the request was received from.
SingleResponse=1 says that it should only send one IP address when WINS does a name query request.
