View Full Version : Network Mapping
I just bought a new server and was wondering if instead of manually rebuilding the network, is there a program that will find all the hardware and workstations on the network for me? Also the new hard drive is 80 gigs and the old one is 9 gigs. Can I ghost the 9 gig to the 80 gig? Thanks!
yes you can ghost the 9 gig to an 80, but more than likely windows will freak out on the new hardware. THat's really only an option if you have a sperate data drive. I would simpy slave the 9 gig after your OS is installed on the 80 and copy the data over.
If you install your OS using the same system and share names then the workstations will not have to be remapped. Of course if you are using W2K server or something you can simply ix all of this with the logon script.
The old server is windows NT. I'm thinking of using Windows 200 for the new server. So if I use Windows 2000, u typed something about the logon script?
is your NT server running as a PDC?
I think it's the PDC. It's the only server on our network. We only have about 14 users.
so, bottom line is you're looking to install a new server and you want to migrate to windows 2000 server...
