When windows millenium got corrupted and the restore disk was bad i installed win2k pro. I never had done it before and lost the integrated modem that is part of this gateway desktop. I installed a external modem and never had a problem. I would like to find a tool that will identify the integrated modem so I can find the right drivers as the ME drivers don't seem to work on 2k or I was getting the wrong drivers. Is there a way I can do this through a software program;
1. Identify the modem
2. Install compatible drivers

thanks for any help given

Go to Gateway.com/support (http://support.gateway.com/support/default.asp) and enter your serial number in the box top center of the page. You will be able to ID your modem and find drivers from there.

Do you have any more info on Gateway Pc model name you using also check out SiSoft SANDRA it may give you some info on what Integrated modem is used.......

Do you have any manuals that may give a clue to what modem is used?

Searching none Deskop specific drivers for W2K gave these Drivers (http://support.gateway.com/support/drivers/output.asp?ref=step&curPlatform=Desktop&curSystem=Not+Desktop+Model+Specific&curOS=160&curCommodity=Modem)

That Gateway page should have given you the manufacturer and model of the internal modem... go to the modem manufacturer's website and look for a driver for your OS.

There is no way around this unless you wanna screw your computer up even more. You downloaded the wrong drivers if their incompatible. Download the ones for windows 2000/XP.
