Ok... going to toss this out with the promise that this is not a troll.. Just curious (Heck, I am downloading it right now...)

Ok.. I have used M$ Os's for years.. tried an early version of RedHat and wasn't too impressed...

I am curious as to why I should run Linux?
is it just the fact that Bill doesn't get any money from it?

What are the other reasons that you use Linux??

I would love to switch, but trying to justify it? (other than I found out the UT2K3 will run in Linux!!

Linux is simply an alternative to Windows and is supposed to be free, though more and more are finding ways to charge more and more for it. That article shows my attempts to run it. Its fun to tinker with as an alternative operating system, but is years behind XP and its ease of use. Most of what made Linux a viable alternative to Windows is no longer with XP.

As far as personal PC's go, Linux is different & takes time to get used to, it's harder to install & setup until you understand it, your interaction with it is different from Window's again thats just something you have to learn.

But we all had to learn Window's & if Linux had been first then everyone would be bitching about how hard Window's would be to learn now.

Linux has bugs & security flaws just like MS so nothing new & improved there.

I don't recommend Linux to very many friends because they just don't spend the amount of time on thier PC's for it to be worth there while.

Why am I using it?
It's FREE
It can do anything Window's can
You are in control (no more bloated apps unless you want them)
I hate anything with DRM & XP is #1 on my list for it
Did I mention it's FREE

Try Debian if you find you don't like Redhat, oh ya I still think Bill Gates should be voted the most important person of the 20th century.

I just love *BSD /usr/ports, I can easily install programs with one command with a simple "make", gotta love it. That and other reasons, but this would appeal to you most, you can install thousands of different programs, easily, and quickly, you gotta love it :D
