When I turn on my computer, quickly across the screen is the following:

smrgdf not found.

It is on the screen for a few seconds and then disappears.

I have no idea what this means and do not know if signifies some problem.

Sure would like some information on this, what it means and if I need to do something.

txtazdad, I very much appreciate your taking the time to answer this question. I did have that on my computer but I deleted it. I looked and it is not now listed as being on my computer.

It does sound like it is not something I have to be concerned about so that relieves me.

Hi

If you removed System Mechanic and you haev a message at boot, like smrgdf not found, then you still have a reference to this application on your PC, likely in the startup run hive of the registry, so download and install the free CCleaner (http://www.majorgeeks.com/download4191.html)

Once installed, run the cleaner and then the registry tools, will likely have to use the registry cleaner about 3 times to remove all orphaned entries. Then still in CCLeaner click Tools > Startup and see if their is a reference to smrgdf or System Mechanic in that list if so delete it.

I hope you realise you should uninstall programs, not just delete them.

If you need further explanation on this don't be too shy to ask, we'd love to help.

studiot, do excuse me if I do not have your name correct. Thank you so much for your help. I did run the cleaner program. I had not ever clicked on the registry button as I had always heard not to touch that. I did and I clicked fix and there were probably a dozen or more things that came up. I did see the program that seemed to be a problem.

Now, if you can help me with my netflix problem which I posted about, I will be in fine shape.

Halo, thank you for the information. I have done as you and others have suggested.

I have to express my appreciation for the help I receive here. I have no one to call on when I have a problem and I am very grateful to receive assistance and it is wonderful that you provide such a needed service and for free.

I do love my computer, am probably addicted to it. However, I have never learned technical stuff and can't wrap my mind around it most of the time.

What I do know is that when I have a problem you all are here with your generous and kind support.
