Good evening fellow geeks!

I have a Asus M3A78-T with an AMD Phenom 9850 BE Processor.

I have setup this machine but this machine seems to be different in terms of having to install chipset drivers, etc etc.

Example: on my VIA boards and Intel chipset boards I install the chipste driver, reboot and I am on my way to install video and other items.

For my M3A78-T, it uses the new AMD 790gx Chipset. I can find info on the chipset, but not any new driver updates. Being how new the chipset is, I would like AMD would be updating the chipset drivers for better performance and stability.

I looked under Major Geeks, all I found in the search was forum posts relating to the 790gx boards, someone wanting to build one (a pc) with an MSI brand board, and reviews. Nothing is in the driver section.
I even tried teh AMD website. All I see is the Radeon Drivers.

Now this confuses me as well, look here:
http://game.amd.com/us-en/drivers_chipset.aspx
Nothing. Just the RaidXpress, a website and host based management system, and the disk performance enhancer, just an EXE that does something. Id suspect it does registry editing on cache. I haven't done research on it.

Now also here:
http://www.amd.com/us-en/Processors/TechnicalResources/0,,30_182_871_2336,00.html

No mention or anything new.

Am I looking in the wrong place for updated drivers for this chipset?
Or better yet, what do I need to be doing to make the install done correctly chipset wise (and also what order?)

I will provide my full specs, as I didn't provide them all, just processor and motherboard.

Asus M3A78-T
AMD Phenon X4 9850 Black Edition
4GB DDR2-1066 (2gb x 2)
RAID 0 1TB (500gb x 2) Seagates
Pioneer 16x DVD-R/RW Drive (IDE, I LOVE THIS THING)
2 Visiontek ATI Radeon 4850's in Crossfire Mode.

Thank you so much. I hope I gave as much info as I could.

M3A78-T Chipset Drivers for Windows XP (http://dlcdnet.asus.com/pub/ASUS/misc/utils/AMDChipset_V51010008_XP.zip) (32bit and 64bit)
M3A78-T Chipset Drivers for Vista (http://dlcdnet.asus.com/pub/ASUS/misc/utils/AMD_Chipset_V306820_Vista.zip) (32bit and 64bit)
You didn't meniton which version of Windows you're running (unless I missed it) so I posted direct download links for both.

Thanks for your reply BUT I know Asus has the drivers but I was wanting the new drivers that AMD actually puts out.

I would wait until Asus releases any chipset updates. Chipsets from AMD are usually quite a bit different than chipset drivers from Intel, and AMD chipset drivers are generally not as 'universal' as Intel chipsets, and are usually highly modified by the OEM, in your case, the OEM would be Asus.... so just be patient. Besides, updating drivers for no reason, just because newer drivers are available, is not always a real good idea. If it's not broken, don't fix it... ;)

:-o I worded this poorly. Obviously AMD chipsets will be different from Intel. Duh. What I meant was that you can go Intel and download chipset drivers that will work on just about any PC with an Intel chipset, but you cannot go to AMD and download a 'generic' or 'universal' chipset driver like you can with an Intel chipset.

I also prefer getting chipset drivers from the manufacturer of the chipset. It just feels better, as though their intimate knowledge of their own product insures their drivers are superior.

I can't be sure about whether or not that's true.

In any event, I think "catalyst" drivers contain all the neccessary chipset drivers in a package.

I hope you'll update this thread with your experience.
