I bought a 52" Samsung HD LCD tv a few months ago (can't remember the model off the top of my head). Love everything about it, but I just realized that I didnt even inquire about the difference between 60Hz and 120 Hz.

Needless to say, I think my tv is 60Hz. (At least that's what it says when I play anything through HDMI)

My question is, can a 60Hz LCD HDTV be upgraded to a 120Hz?

Sorry, there is no way yet to change a 60HZ to a 120HZ. The 120s are still a new 'cutting edge technology' when it comes to TVs, and with it comes a price. A new 120 set will run you about $500 more than the same set running 60HZ. We just bought a new Toshiba 40" LCD w\60HZ (HDMI connected, 1080p) and after watching 'Death Race' with Blu-Ray I noticed NO difference in the action parts of the movie. The movie ran very smoothly. The 120HZ sets are 'supposed' to make the action more fluid and the picture clearer. That, of course, depends on the input. At Best Buy, I watched a 120 and a 60 side-by-side, playing the same movie, through the same source (Direct TV HD HDMI) and I noticed no difference between the 2. MAYBE 120HZ is better, but I sure couldn't see a difference. So, my friend, the only way that I can see you going with a 120HZ set is to go out and drop some more $$$ on a set with 120HZ.

I will say, I am in no way dissatisfied with my purchase. However, my love of new gadgets will always keep me wanting the latest and greatest.

Thanks Stubby.
