I don't want to use any third media like hub, switch or other device,
just plain laptop to laptop connectivity

Hi rakuntal and welcome to MGs.

You want to use ICS (Internet Connection Sharing).
Laptop A is the host or server computer that you enable this on.

XP Guide (http://www.practicallynetworked.com/sharing/xp_ics/)
Vista Guide (http://windowshelp.microsoft.com/Windows/en-US/help/bfd3bd31-82f0-4b9c-9cde-fb92bc2b14771033.mspx)

Hi there,
I am trying to share two laptops (Both Vista on Gateway) through a wireless connection (Netgear Wireless n-300 wnr200) but I keep hitting a snug. My router is connected to the IDU (modem). Do I have to add the MAC addresses of both PCs to the access list? Basically, what I'd like is to be able to access wireless without using the ETH cable from any room. Any help would be just great. Thanx in advance!

If MAC filtering is enabled on the router, yes, you do have to add the new MACs to the list. If you need to know the MAC, run the command ipconfig /all from a command prompt on each comp. (You will have to "Run as Administrator" if you get an elevated permissions error statement.)

Next time, start a new thread if you have a question as opposed to adding a post to an existing thread.;)
