I can't update or register some games via the net. I get the "Internet Explorer Error...A connection with the server could not be established" message.

I'm using Vista 64 Ultimate upgraded to sp2.

Could you give us an example of a game and website for it please?

Have you checked whether this is a noted problem or bug on the games support site?

Is there anything else you've tried to fix this error?

Hmm, are the sites based/hosted in South Korea (been a lot of DDOS attacks there in the last week)?

Hello satrow,

The Witcher for one, it is a four step process and at number two where it needs to access the registration page, after several minutes the error message pops up.

Bioshock does an auto patch/update as part of the installation but it fails to connect after three attempts.

Mass Effect also requires an online verification but is unable to find the server.

Bioshock has a support page that directs you to change/add proxy connections, but when I opened Firefox tools and navigated to the page there was no proxy address to record.

Can you disable your software firewall and try again?

Yeah, I actually turned off the windows firewall in services. UAC is off.

Can you think of any other possible causes?

My bad :-o,

I thought turning off Comodo was enough, but after further thought I decided to uninstall Comodo and that did the trick :-D.

All programs that needed the net connections are now working properly. Unless I learn otherwise, it looks like I'll have to uninstall Comodo to get these programs loaded.
