Hello Everyone,

I am not sure where to post, but I guess someone will direct to the right one, so here goes.
I have the D-Link DIR-655, installed and even went and the web and put my IP address in the address bar, printed out the Wireless Router Status Device Info and matter of fact this is the first time that I have created a visible Wireless Network Connection and the status reads; EXCELLENT, all the bars are green, BUT, I have no internet connection.

I did a network Diagnostic and my DNS test failed, the ISP failed until I changed the last number one higher. But I still do not have access to the Internet. When I click on the Icon for "Big Blue E", it does pop up, but no connection.

Please can some one help me with this?:confused

you are connected to the network you set up but internet is not coming through?

Can you connect without the router in line?

Is there a password that lets you connect to the internet if not go into the router settings and check the box that says something like connect without password, or if one is required check remember password.

Hello buggabear3,

Thank you for responding to my 'laptop computer wows'. Yes, I sat up a wireless network via D-Link, but before setting it up I use to be able to connect from whomever network was availble, but a few days ago, it showed no connectioin.

Therefore I got D-Link, follow the instructions and created a Network Wireless connection, with a name, and I even gave it a password, but the password I gave it did not have to be soooooo long, like up to 32 characters. It was about 6 characters long.

I have the D-Link Router hooked to the main computer and after going throw the steps, "BAM" , the Wireless Network I set up was on my laptop, saying excellent connectioin, all the bars are green, and with 35 - 45 m,(?) . But when I clicked on the Icon for the Internet, It pops up, but not working.

I did a Network diagnostic and it says that the DNS failed and some other things failed. So I am trying to contact HP, to send a recovery Disk, since I can not seem to figure this out. :cry

The main computer where the D-Link is set up is working just fine.

Well, this is a update on the mystery concerning my HP Laptop. I have been going round and round with this thing. I called HP and ordered a CD Recovery, even knowing that I would be losing all my data, unless I created a backup. So that is what I was in the process of doing. But before doing that I wanted to try one more thing with this D-Link.

I read over the "How To Install" PDF file that is provided with the CD, and went over it step by step, trying to see if I missed anything. Well I Did!! Since my ISP is a DHCP and it automatically provide the IP address, it says that if I have a PPPop (?) such ase Broadcom, then i needed to delete it because I would not be able to connect to the internet. Ok, I did that but still no connection. Then, I found the Driver Recovery Disk, since My computer was saying it found new hardware, (Broadcom) but could not install the driver, because Removed it. But later I ran the Driver Recoery Disk and it put it back on.

But the thing is there was a blank space on the D-Link that I did not put in which was the name of the Home Computer, so I went to "Run" > cmd> ipconfig/all (enter) and found it there, then entered that name.

I still am not quite sure how I did it, but as I am typing right now, I am doing it via my HP Laptop. Man! Sometimes these computers can be a 'humdinger".

Thanks for all the help, for all who peered into my 'Computer Woes", and possible was trying to assit. But surly, I will be back!
