workgroup

I have a small network of 2 computers (my laptop ,and the family desktop) I am trying to turn the network peer to peer but I'v run into a problem.I cant share files so I tried to veiw my workgroup on the network to see what was going on but it gives me a warrning about not having permission from my network administer, of course I am the network administer and can't figure out the problem. The gateway is set and i am sharing the internet but nothingelse dose anyone have any ides.

.....a little more please....Like what OS are these boxes running? Is this a wired or wireless connection?2 xp home computers on a wireless 802.11b connection
