i would probably bid no more than $100-$125 for it come the end of the auction... condition is stated as "Good"...

oh yeah, and hopefully none of you will try to outbid me =P

Midge, I go to a lot of auctions, police included, and have found that you'd better bid at the very lowest dollar figure for tech gear. Police are very good at apprehending bad guys but not so hot at judging the condition of electronic stuff or testing it either. Mostly, they just pile it up in a warehouse, bring it out once or twice a year and sell it as is bugs and all. I'd say that buying it sight unseen (except for the pic) might be a risky business.

In other words, if you have a problem or are unhappy with it in any way, you outta luck. On the other hand, it is a Sony...

yeah i'm more on the skeptical side... but when you think about it, it could very well be in perfectly good condition..... i searched this site for awhile and they descriptions were very specific about other items (including monitors), i.e. a scratch here, a ding there, a bad pixel... i dunno though

It IS a bit of a crap shoot, and factor in shipping in your gamble, but if the bidding stays low, I'd go for it. A CRT monitor usually either works or doesn't, and Sony is a good unit. Part of the gamble is how well they'll pack it. Monitors don't ship very well except in the custom fit packing from the factory, which this one won't have. But if UPS trashes it, they should pay for it, up to $100.00.

For items like this, you're better off shopping the real auctions. You can find old equipment like this sold by the bin. Much more economical.

As for this site, don't waste the money. You'll pay shipping & insurance (?) on what is probably a marginal monitor.
