View Full Version : How does this score look
PC Mark 4589
Are these figures related? Should the be close to the same? If they need to be as equal as possible how does one go doing about that?
Core Clock 398 MHz
Memory Clock 324 MHz
And Aquamark
GFX 3108
CPU 9366
26,676
And I have no idea what any of these numbers mean.

Damn with all that nice hardware you should know  no offence but you should. Core and mem clock you mention is from video card.
There is a 6mb huge PDF file in AQuamark folder explaining what it is about. Result when you dont change or tweak anything is mostly to confirm nothing is wrong like underclocked, eeeek. Real use of benchmarks you get when you start fiddling with oc/tweaking like increasing fsb, lowering memory timings and what else works. If you plan to do that you also need stability tests like Prime95 and Memtest86+ Some benchmarks can run in loopmode and so also work as stress-tests. Dont think you should jump up and down cause of higher scores if computer cant pass stress-tests but that depends on how freaky you get, heh. Should do both at same time, that way you get to know computer best way and can get the most out of it. Take it easy - can be risky business - especially with vcards!

One would think I would have a better idea what the scores mean but I’m still pretty new to all this and learning on the run. No offense taken by the way. Finished building my computer mid December but spent several weeks researching components. Got the idea to build my own from Maximum PC’s Dream Machine issue and from Majorgeek board members who always say to 'build your own to get what you want', so I did. I'm not concerned about overclocking as much as I'm curious if my marks are inline for the hardware I've installed. The only changes to BIOS are those recommended on the ABIT board and I'm not sure if it made any difference. I’ll take a look at the Aquamark pdf file and see what’s up
Thanks,

Ok, small steps give best result.
Ive have not checked Aquamark website but they also have an online database of user results. You can submit scores? Or is that only in Pro/paid version. May be you are allowed to have a peek so can compare? You can definitely do that at www.futuremark.com Each benchmark behave differently, some tests like 3dmark2001SE is sensitive to your cpu/memory as well as vcard while 3Dmark2003 almost exclusively reacts to vcard. Not sure about Aquamark. PCmark from 2002 was a bit unreliable in some ways, dont know much about new version. Must be careful when comparing, not exact science and you cant allways trust what you see ;)
