I assume you have heard of War Driving, where people drive around and scan for wireless access points.
Well, these guys did a War Flying experiment. Tom's Hardware got together with a few people and did a flyover over LA.
"Of these 3151 access points 32.5% (1026) had WEP encryption enabled and remaining 67.5% (2125) had no encryption enabled."
