View Full Version : Windows 98 and Linksys routers.
Anybody ever heard of problems between Linksys wireless routers and Windows 98? I'm trying to help a friend fix their wireless router problem and, according to Linksys, there is a problem between Linksys routers and Win98. She said that recently her internet connection has started running really slow where it worked fine before. The slow computer has Win98 and the other computer is running fine with Win98SE. Any idea what could be wrong?
I'm not running the wireless but I've got win 98se and xp networked through a linksys router, had plain old 98 and never seem to have any problems.
If the 98se disk is available upgrade the 98 computer with it and see what happens.
Also might want to check for a virus or spyware problem on the 98 computer before it gets to the 98se computer, assumming that there might be a problem that is.
Ethernet is Ethernet and as long as the Network is Ethernet and Win98 is the Router should Not care.
However the Drivers of the Wireless Client Card might be not very compatible with old OS like Win98.
But it worked before?
So try this: Optimizing & Measuring the "Speed" of Internet Connection. (http://www.ezlan.net/Internet_Speed.html)
It worked up until about a week ago.
