I'm not sure by how to get mostly Gromac's core WU's on my pc. I'm doing well with the tinker ones atm...but... I just now got my main pc working again and would like to start crunching out some real WU's. What do you mean pass the -advthingy? and how do I do it? I have the graphical client for windows XP that runs down in the bottom corner of the taskbar.

Please help, thanks a lot!

not sure what you mean by "-advthingy?" do you want to do big WU's? in your configure menu on the second page (labeled connection), about 4/5 the way down there is a box that allows reciept of WU's larger than 5megs... click it if you want them or leave it unchecked if you don't.
goldy.. correct me if i'm wrong.. just want to help..

okay.. i think this is what you meant... and i think the above is what the FAQ meant.. "In order to get mostly Gromacs WU's, you should pass the -advmethods parameter to the console client."

the -advthingy you speak of is a command line option.

You can pass this to the client by making a shortcut, with this parameter added on at the end.

e.g.
c:\Program files\Folding@Home\FAH4.exe -advmethods

However I'm not sure whether this parameter is supported in the new versions, and even if it is it is not always possible to get Gromacs WUs if none are waiting to be processed.

There is a new core type which I will be researching into for the FAQ, so the information given in the FAQ may be out of date, and I'm sorry about that, I'll be reviewing it when I can.
