Hello

I keep getting frequent 'attack detection reports' from my Outpost Pro Firewall after which my internet connections slow down considerably and I have to restart to get back up to speed. I have read the attack report log and they seem to all be coming from one IP address.

Is there anything I can do about this?

I use a Toshiba A60 - 106 notepad running Windows XP. I have Norton Antivrus, Outpost Pro Firewall & Adaware SE, Spysubtract and Spywareblaster spyware.

Thanks

Hungry Joe

127.0.0.1 is the internal loopback address for your network card. I would guess that whatever your firewall is detecting is originating from your machine. I don't know why this would slow down your machine but I dont think it can be anything external doing it. Make sure that you have up to date definitions for Norton and AdAware and your other antispyware stuff and run them.

Hope this helps

BTW, how long has it been doing this for?

Thanks for that Qwertyman66. It's been doing it for a few weeks on and off. Funnily enough I ran updates on all my spyware/adware/anti-virus stuff last night and touch wood I haven't had any attacks since and everything is running to speed. Strange eh? At least your explanation has eased my paranoia!
