I think our F@H cause is best suited by recruiting the most number folders possible (and we have a pretty large pool of potentials to work with considering the traffic to this site).

That said, I think the following link should be updated with current information about the number of folders participating, the total points amassed, our current rank, etc. The more exciting that page makes Folding@Home sound, the more casual users we will get to participate.

The top 10-20 folders on the team could each go spend a few thousand on a new rig to add to the cause, and that still wouldn't hold a candle to the affect that a regular influx of new members could do to the production of the team. Making Folding @ Home sound cool and inclusive (does *cool* make me sound old??) in the forums will do a lot for our

For our what?

Yes, recruiting folders is for sure the best way to improve our overall standings. Regular updates are a good plan, in fact I would do them myself if I had the time on my hands to do it. The "Weekly Update" thread is good, however, I have a feeling that perhaps we should ask for a section on the main website for a "folding blog" perhaps, where I or someone else could track our progress. I say on the main website because most visitors to MG don't get to the forums, and if they do only a small number of them actually stick around.

Thats an idea I might throw around, at least.

Another plan is to have people organise a large number of PCs/participants in their local area. e.g, someone who sells PCs to include F@H for our team should the customer wish to participate. Or possibly members who work in schools or whatever to install F@H on a room of PCs (with permission, of course...).

The main problem I think is getting people to fold for MG who do not nececarily frequent the forums so much.

Anyone else got some ideas?

you know what, everyone likes to see their names in print. if we get a blog.. why not post names of new users and milestones there... also if someone turns in X points a week per cpu they get recognized.

i made a suggestion of linkable titles.... how does this sound... special title for each 5000 points turned in.

5000- Private folder
10000- Sargeant Folder
15000- captian Folder
20000- Major Folder
25000- Major Geek Folder
yada.. yada... and if someone ticks a mod off and gets their title changed... at least make it a clickable link back to this forum....
just an idea...
