I got 3 pc's at home here. 2 are running xp pro, and 1 is on xp home. pc 1 can browes, change, and move files on pc 2. Pc 2 is able to do the same to pc 1 and pc 3. Pc1 can not do any thing to pc 3 and pc 3 can only acess pc 2, not pc1. PC 1 is the xp home, and pc's 2 and 3 are on xp pro. All are on the MSHOME network here. Any help on how to get the two pc's to talk to each other?

Thanks, Bryan

One more thing, I can see all pc's in "my network places" when I look at all pc's when I try to access the one's that I can't get into, A message says, "not accessable". Thought that may help you all out, If I left anything out, let me know

Hmm seems the problem is with PC1.

check if it has the same subnet mask as the other pc's.

are you using static or dynamic IP's given by a DHCP host?

you might want to retry installing the networking components on PC1, that sometimes sorts the problem out as well..

Is there any firwall software that might be blocking PC1 (of Service Pack 2 with firewall maybe?)

I got ZA on all 3 pc. I can vnc into all 3 from any of then, setup correctly then?

try disable/remove ZA on PC1, see if that helps.

VNC is only access by IP and Port-specific, whereas browse by PC needs to access a windows service (network browser) which can be blocked by Service Pack 2, FW or other security measurements.

Have you installed SP2 on all machines? Have you disabled the FW on the LAN connections?

is PC1 getting a proper IP assigned by DHCP? is the subnetmask the same for all 3 PC's?

Ok, this is what I know(im at work). Pc 1 Has a static Ip, will need to check the subnet. Also, it does have sp2. Pc 2 also has static ip and sp2 on it. Pc 3 does not have sp2 on it, but it has a static. I use pc 3 for backup only, no peripherals are connected, I have to vnc into it. I still don't get why pc 2 can talk to both of them, and pc 1 can talk to pc2, And that pc3 can talk to pc2. Thanks for the help. I will get back to you on the subnet part.

Just got home, and I checked my settings, ZA was set for a range of.69-.74 for allowed ip addresses. My pc 3 has an ip of .75! Changed my ZA settings and BAM- It worked! Thanks for the help,
Bryan

It's always in the tiny little details!!! Drill down and dig deep until you find the prob - there's always a reason!!

glad to be of help.
