Can't tell why either. The only things I did different since I opened it up last is downloading a song and I started using the "get info/ownership&permissions" function to put some security on some of my folders. I had a file in a secured folder, unlocked it, tried to bring it up, and that's when I noticed Appleworks wouldn't respond. Any ideas? Can't check the preferences because it just freezes up.

Help me Oh Major Geeks!!

...and yes I clicked the permissions back to "read&write" B4 trying to open it up, still didn't help.

When is the last time you verified and repaired permisions?

You can do it via the Dik Utility in the Utilities folder.

Also, check this:

Thanks for the response!!! ..but...
I've done both, still no go. Any other suggestions?
The only other Idea I've heard was to dump Appleworks and reload it from my panther disks. (sounds drastic to me)

The only other thing I did different lately was download a couple songs off the web, could that have anything to do with it? They went into iTunes, don't see how they could affect appleworks.

I don't think its so unreasonable to reload appleworks.

I'd try dumping the preference files first.

Maybe give this a shot to do it.

Thanks but I couldn't get sidekick to launch or do anything. Went thru the disk utilities & both preferences (system&user) still dead in the water.

Might have to get drastic and dump/reload appleworks, any other ideas are more than welcome.

I don't know what freed it up last time, I just started trashing anything that looked like it came off a download that didn't seem neccessary. But now I have the same problem again. It happened when I went to a certain folder that was marked "no access" in the "get info" menu, I marked it read&write access, closed out the menu and tried to open up a document from that folder.
Bang, I'm stuck again. I repaired & verified disk permissions and still no go.

What can I do?
