I've got a problem: I have an 12'' iBook G3 (I know, I'm cheap and don't want to upgrade!) running OSX/Tiger, and out of nowhere some of my applications stopped working, and my Airport isn't recognizing any networks that I know are there. I tried plugging an ethernet cord directly to my computer, and it was not recognizing the connection. I also tried (just to see what would happen) putting in my USB flash drive, and the computer didn't even see that it was there. I cannot get into my network preferences, it closes with an "unexpected error" message every time, and some other apps are still not working. Basically, I need to find a way to back up my files so I can reinstall the OS. Does anyone know of any way that I could back things up when my internet isn't working and I can't connect to another computer (have tried both other mac and a PC)... If anyone knows anything about this, any info would be appreciated.

boot it up in target disk mode (http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=58583).

Could you tell me how I would go about doing that? I don't know a whole lot about macs.
