Why do some emails take a long time to deliver? While others come to your inbox instatntionously. I use LiveMail (new Hotmail).
Does it have to do with the other person's server or something?

No, when you check your email, it goes to your server, so possible issues can be a slowdown on your ISP's mail server, lag on your own connection and file attachements.

What about when someone sends you an email? None of my emails had attachments. Blockbuster and Paypal go to my inbox instantanously, but the email my church minister sent me took 24 hours. I think there could be a lag on his server or ISP.
Could it be that my email has to go through the hotmail server and be forwarded to the live mail server?
Maybe George Bush is reading them ;-)

24 hours from the time he sent to the time you received it? I can only assume this means a problem on his end. Email should be instant regardless. Of course, I prefer Google Gmail over Hotmail. If you want a Gmail account, or your minister, send me a private message with the emails and I will send you invites.

Also a gmail user.
Is your minister using an online email or a company email ? he may be using an exchange server with delays on send and recieves. This would only normally be around 15 minutes at the most not 24 hours though.

His email address is company, it's the same domain as the website.

Now that I think about it. If you use softwar like Outlook, it can take longer, especially if the ISP is different.
For example, It took me a long time to figure out how to get Juno to work with Outlook on my University of TN email. I had to guess the port number, and set it up to reply to my juno account. Now, I use the free juno for when I am traveling.

It may be the domain host's server, maybe thier server gets bogged down.

I've seen UTK's server take several days to send an email to my hotmail account. After that, I opted to have my UTK friends email me to my UTK address because it saved time.
