These event occur world wide, and especially in the United States. Florida has a decent one or two every year, but this one is mine and is in the Dallas area. This is SWARC's premier event for the year, we have about 4 such, but this one is all out. Anyone who remembers BattleBots or Robot Wars stands a good chance of meeting some of the builders at this event (or events like them).

My relation to this event? I've just become President of SWARC for a year. If you're interested in events like this some good websites to start off with are:

This site is in the middle of a move, the original SWARC site.

24" by 24" room? These are some tiny and heavy (120 lb) robots. ;)

Doh! Yep, that's small alright. Looks like some feedback is in order to our artist. Thanks for catching it <grumble>.

Would hate to be in there while they are fighting, I might come back home blind ;)

The reflections you are looking at are 2+ inches of bulletproof glass. We take safety very serious in this sport, have too, those suckers bite.

Only thing that can penetrate that glass is a M1 garand, used by the Allies during World War 2, but I doubt anyone has or will bring it to the event ;)

Projectile weapons are not allowed, but we do allow flame throwers.

Whatcha think, worth the admission? We're going to have to dissasemble the arena soon, this was out last big bot fight at this location, maybe period. We're working on it.

Fried, Flyed, what's the diff.

I have some good .mov video of this plane flying in our arena. He wanted plublicity shots of the flame bot "chasing" him. Give it is made out of styrophome I thought the flyer was being gutsy.

the admission price is well worth the flying metal, but why are you gonna disassemble the arena?

There is a road going through where the building is, so we're loosing our venue. It was fun while it lasted, and if we can find another place to put this 24X24' arena we'll do it again. One thing, there can only be one or two events a year, it takes too much money and too long to build the big boys.
