2 long 2 short -pause- 2 short beeps

HELP
Came in to work and power had gone off over the weekend
It rained Friday night but dont know if there was lightning or not.
All of the laptops that were here remained plugged in and they are not affected.
I have an APC UPS backup surge protector on my Dell desktop.
but I came in and it will not boot up

I get 2 long, 2 short -short pause- 2 short beeps

nothing on the monitor, although it is on
the keyboard does not come on either

when I unplugged the monitor and plugged it back in I got a short....
DELL
flash on the screen but then it goes black again

so I know it's not the monitor

any idea what's wrong with this thing?

 

Take a different keyboard... maybe key is stuck with cinnamon coffee cake you for got you had in front of the computer last week.
Step 2 .... open case replace that battery that looks like a dime make sure you notice the number on the battery.
You can get battery( CR2032) .... at a autoshop or computer store.
hope you are grounded.. and know how to poke around in a computer.

 

If you have a Phoenix BIOS and a lot of Dells do, 2 beeps followed by any other combo of beeps can mean bad memory. Just to be certain that it may not have anything to do with your APC UPS, try plugging straight to the wall plug and see if your Dell boots.

Not sure about the battery thing (not really my thing) but if you do try it, make sure you unplug before opening the case and just touch the metal frame of your PC before trying to remove the battery.
