Time For A Xmas Printer

Presently own an HP Officejet 4500. Time to replace it. It worked ok but it was never what I would call awesome. We mainly print with it but do occasionally fax or scan. Setting is home/home office. Mostly I want something that is: 1) reliable, 2) simple to operate (as in brain dead), 3) will print,scan, fax. 4) inexpensive (preferably cheap). We have WiFi in the house. I use a laptop with windows8, wife has an iPad and an airbook.
I never pay attention to this kind of stuff so I need recommendations. And who knows more than Major Geeks?
