    Hi Admin/Chaslang,

I'm having a similar problem as I apparently have a virus/malware called Win32/Patched.KD and the Shopperz malware.

I've run Gtools and FRST and attach the files as you requested for the previous user. Hopefully you can help me too.

Let me know if you need any further details.

    Many thanks.

Welcome to the Malware Removal forum. :)

Please read ALL of this message including the notes before doing anything.

Please follow the instructions in the below link:

READ & RUN ME FIRST. Malware Removal Guide

and attach the requested logs when you finish these instructions.

      • **** If something does not run, write down the info to explain to us later but keep on going. ****
      • Do not assume that because one step does not work that they all will not. MGtools will frequently run even when all other tools will not.

      • After completing the READ & RUN ME and attaching your logs, make sure that you tell us what problems still remain ( if any still do )!
    Helpful Notes:

      • If you run into problems trying to run the READ & RUN ME or any of the scans in normal boot mode, you can run the steps in safe boot mode but make sure you tell us what you did later when you post logs. See the below if you do not know how to boot in safe mode:
      • If you have problems downloading on the problem PC, download the tools and the manual update Malwarebytes ( links are given in the READ & RUN ME) onto another PC and then burn to a CD. Then copy them to the problem PC. You will have to skip getting updates if (and only if) your internet connection does not work. Yes you could use a flash drive too but flash drives are writable and infections can spread to them.
      • If you cannot seem to login to an infected user account, try using a different user account (if you have one) in either normal or safe boot mode and running only RogueKiller and Malwarebytes while logged into this other user account. Then reboot and see if you can log into the problem user account. If you can then run the rest of the READ & RUN ME FIRST instructions on the infected account.
      • To avoid additional delay in getting a response, it is strongly advised that after completing the READ & RUN ME you also read this sticky:

Any additional post is a bump which will add more delay. Once you attach the logs, your thread will be in the work queue and as stated our system works the oldest threads FIRST.

    Hi TimW,

Thanks for pointing me in the right direction :)

Attached are the requested files and below I'll describe the problems I've experienced.

    Problem:
My antivirus came up with the problem that I was infected with "win32/patched.kd" and after that my McAfee stopped working and came up with the error that the DAT file was missing or corrupted and I needed to reinstall it. In addition, FireFox went berserk and started coming up with so many pop-ups that it was impossible to use the browsers. Chrome would not connect to the internet. Also the computer was really slow to start up and run. I already had ccCleaner and Malwarebytes on my computer so I ran them (not as part of this exercise) and I was alerted to having Shpperz malware as well.

I tried reinstalling McAfee but it kept coming with the same DAT file error so I uninstalled it and installed AVG instead. AVG continuously kept giving me the alert of having detected the win32/patched.kd virus but it failed to clean it.

At this stage I posted the earlier message on the forum above and since then I've followed the steps (hopefully correctly) and attach the files below. If I've managed to stuff something up, let me know and I'll run the scan again.

After following the requested steps, I seem to have gotten rid of the virus alerts but I thought I'd post the logs anyway as I'm not sure if the problem is really gone.

Thanks for taking the time out to help me out, I really appreciate it.

Use windows explorer to find and delete these two items:
    C:\Windows\tasks\Alhcvqtpft.job
    C:\Windows\tasks\0615pizUpdateInfo.job

Tell me what issues remain as I am not finding any malware in your logs.

    @TimW,

Since there are complaints about patched files, I suggest that you take another look at the dnsapi.dll files reported by FRST. :)

Please download SystemLook from one of the links below appropriate for your operating system and save it to your Desktop.
    Download 32 Bit

    Download 64 Bit
    • Double-click SystemLook.exe to run it.
    • Copy the content of the following codebox into the main textfield:
      Code:
      :filefind
      dnsapi.dll
    • Click the Look button to start the scan.
    • When finished, a notepad window will open with the results of the scan. Please post this log in your next reply.
Note: The log can also be found on your Desktop entitled SystemLook.txt

FYI: Copies of dnsapi.dll are already listed in nwktst.txt of MGtools. :)
    And MD5 codes show too.

It looked like MBAM recognized the file and may have fixed it. Please rerun MBAM and attach a new log. Be sure to tell me how things are running and if you are having internet issues still.

Both the system32 and the syswow64 versions have to be replaced according to the first FRST log. MBAM only attempted to fix one but it may not have use the correct version and thus FRST would still show it as the incorrect one. Unless both are fixed, there will still be problems accessing the internet. It would be good to get a new log from FRST to see the current status especially if there is still a problem accessing the internet.

Zephyr..... as Chaslang said, please rerun FRST and attach a new log if you are still having internet problems.

    Thanks TimW/Chaslang for your replies.

I was slightly confused which files you wanted me to attach so I've run all the scan and am attaching the resulting files.

My internet problem was solved much earlier on.

The problem was repeated warnings of win32/patched.kd virus. This seems to be fixed now after running mbam for the last post. The computer was taking ages to load up, but that seems to be much better now.

I've also been able to install McAfee again (and uninstall AVG). I've also installed Google Chrome again and it seems to be running without any nasty pop ups. Firefox is very slow though so I might uninstall and re-install it later and see if it makes a difference.

In summary, mostly all things seem to be running ok.

I'm attaching the scans here just to make sure that nothing is lurking in the background still.

    Thanks again for your help!

Your logs are clean but there are a few items to remove. Use windows explorer to find and delete:
    C:\Windows\System32\Tasks\Irujados
    C:\Windows\system32\bepk
    C:\Windows\System32\Tasks\Alhcvqtpft

Let me know if you have problems doing that and I will give you a fix that will remove them.

    Hi TimW,

I found those files above and have deleted them. At the moment all looks ok..... I'll keep monitoring things and if something pops up I'll post here.

    Thank you guys! Really, thanks!

    Good to know.

If you are not having any other malware problems, it is time to do our final steps:
    1. We recommend you keep Malwarebytes Anti-Malware for scanning/removal of malware.
    2. Renable your Disk Emulation software with Defogger if you had disabled it in step 4 of the READ & RUN ME.
    3. Go to add/remove programs and uninstall HijackThis. If you don't see it or it will not uninstall, don't worry about it. Just move on to the next step.
    4. If running Vista, Win 7 or Win 8, it is time to make sure you have reenabled UAC by double clicking on the C:\MGtools\enableUAC.reg file and allowing it to be added to the registry.
    5. Now goto the C:\MGtools folder and find the MGclean.bat file. Double click ( if running Vista, Win7, or Win 8 Right Click and Run As Administrator ) on this file to run this cleanup program that will remove files and folders related to MGtools and some other items from our cleaning procedures.
    6. Any other miscellaneous tools we may have had you install or download can be uninstalled and deleted.
    7. After doing the above, you should work thru the below link:
