I have a hard drive 'enclosure' (caddy) into which I have permanently fitted one of my old Hard drives.
Instead of buying another can I use a docking station in the link below.
I want to use another 2 or 3 hard drives for back up and that would save me the cost of a number of caddies?

It does seem obvious but looks too good!?

    The caddy I currently use:-

I assume from looking at the specs on the old caddy that your hard drive is a SATA.
The docking station, some people call them "toasters" supports SATA and has its own source of power so it should work fine.

The case provides your HDDs with protection to their exposed electronics and connectors, the caddy does not. If you have secure places to store these other HDDs and a plan to protect them while handling them, it would work. However, if I was storing information I considered valuable, I would go with a more permanent and protective solution, the case.

Hadn't really thought about the physical safety so will continue with fully fitted/enclosed system.
    Thank You both.
