Possible Hijack / Redirect Issues

    A couple of weeks ago, I started noticing occasional re-directs, and saw that the the machine was asking me to update Flash quite often. Then I caught "weevah" in some of the re-direct addresses, did some searches, and realized I had a problem.

    It's been a few years since I ran into this type of issue, but I followed most of the stuff on the MG site, as well as some other sites. Switched from free Avast to Kaspersky. Added ASC10.2 Free. Ran MalwareBytes, SuperAnti-Spyware, SpyBot, and maybe some others. Now when I attempt to log into my WIFI router, TP-Link AC1750, I'm redirected to a site claiming to be a TP-Link site and then a messenger-type thing offering tech-support. By the time they called me, I realized I was really about to get hacked big-time and blew off the call. Note that I can log into the router using 192.168.xx.xxx.

    I have since taken out Kapersky and re-installed Avast, as I initially thought the Kaspersky changed the router settings as part of its "secure(?) money" browser that it used for sensitive sites. The machine is running Windows 7, Service Pack 1. Any help most appreciated.

    I have (re-) read the read-me-first posting and want to know if the MalwareBytes file should be re-named to mb.exe or mb3.exe, or does it not matter?

    It doesn't matter....just attach the requested logs.

    I apologize for starting this thread before fully reading the malware removal procedure. Thank you for your response.

    I have done the malware removing/clening steps and am attaching the logs (before I lose track of them). I am at Step 4, not yet sure if the everything is clean, but my router re-direct issue, mentioned above, appears solved--the router is accessible. I will wait 2 or 3 days, as per Step 4. Should I continue to have a problem, I will post back. Thank you again.

    Your logs are clean except for some temp crap. Rerun RogueKiller and have it delete these items:

    ¤¤¤ Registry : 15 ¤¤¤
    [Suspicious.Path] (X64) HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\Svchost | HPService : (C:\Users\GEAV\AppData\Local\Temp\7zS3E98\hpslpsvc64.dll) [x] -> Found
    [Suspicious.Path] (X64) HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\System\ControlSet001\Services\HPSLPSVC (C:\Users\GEAV\AppData\Local\Temp\7zS3E98\hpslpsvc64.dll) -> Found
    [Suspicious.Path] (X64) HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\System\ControlSet001\Services\krdpdre (\??\C:\Users\GEAV\AppData\Local\Temp\krdpdre.sys) -> Found
    [Suspicious.Path] (X64) HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\System\ControlSet002\Services\HPSLPSVC (C:\Users\GEAV\AppData\Local\Temp\7zS3E98\hpslpsvc64.dll) -> Found
    [Suspicious.Path] (X64) HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\System\ControlSet002\Services\krdpdre (\??\C:\Users\GEAV\AppData\Local\Temp\krdpdre.sys) -> Found

    Reboot and rescan with RogueKiller and attach a new log. Tell me how things are running.

    Please see attached R-K Log. The machine has been fine since I did all the scans last Thursday, 02/23. Do you think I am OK to re-enable UAC and to toggle restore?

    Looks good.

    If you are not having any other malware problems, it is time to do our final steps:
    1. We recommend you keep Malwarebytes Anti-Malware for scanning/removal of malware.
    2. If running Vista, Win 7 or Win 8, it is time to make sure you have reenabled UAC by double clicking on the C:\MGtools\enableUAC.reg file and allowing it to be added to the registry.
    3. Now goto the C:\MGtools folder and find the MGclean.bat file. Double click ( if running Vista, Win7, or Win 8 Right Click and Run As Administrator ) on this file to run this cleanup program that will remove files and folders related to MGtools and some other items from our cleaning procedures.
    4. Any other miscellaneous tools we may have had you install or download can be uninstalled and deleted.
    5. If you are running Win 8, Win 7, Vista, Windows XP or Windows ME, do the below to flush restore points:
      • Refer to the instructions for your Windows version in this link: Disable And Enable System Restore
      • For Windows 8 and 8.1 system restore see this link: Win 8 System Restore - How to enable/disable
      • What we want you to do is to first disable System Restore to flush restore points some of which could be infected.
      • Then we want you to Enable System Restore to create a new clean Restore Point.
    6. After doing the above, you should work thru the below link:
