What Kind Of Malware Is This And How Do I Get Rid Of It?

Well I am running windows 8.1 64bit. I like using Iobit products like ASC10 and Iobit Malware Fighter and their driver update program. and some of the other programs that they have, they do okay. I have Mcafee Total Protection as my antivirus. Now here is what I was doing when this happened. I was on Google Chrome, downloaded the latest. And I was surfing on Google Chrome, actually on Ebay and all of a sudden everything just started to going crazy, my control panel just kept opening and opening and opening. My cursor just would revert right back to the control panel. I had to be faster than it to get to my ASC10. They have a few features in ASC10 that correct things on your system I assume in Windows Explorer. Anyway can anyone tell me what happened and if I can find out if it is gone from my system. I have bought, paid for and donated to enough programs and apps this year I don't want to spend anymore on any paid programs, thanks guys for the explanation of what happened, and if there is anything I can check or look into.

You downloaded some thing that had malware or a virus in it.

I would recommend on using malwarebytes Iobit malware fighter does not pick up much of any thing.

 

The OP has never returned. IoBit programs are not used by the MG experts.

 

Well I just wanted to relate that after time and trial I have found the source of my problem. It is a program called RansomFree program, I don't remember what tech site said it was good to use. My issue was it was adding folders and I got sort of concerned about the purpose of them. If I tried to erase them, they were eventually added right back to my system. To be on the safe side I emailed RansomFree and got no reply back from them as of today and that was over two weeks ago. It was a program that was written by two I believe government IT techs. Thought I would share this with Majorgeeks.com.

 

RansomeFree is a program to protect against Ransomware - whether it is as good as the many others available, who knows.

You would have got that answer even quicker if you had done the steps recommended in post #2 two months ago.
