    Hi there. I've just registered.

So far your site has been a great help to me. I've downloaded lots of virus/trojan/spyware stuff and I have been able to locate and destroy a good few nasties.

I've now come to the conclusion that I need help with the Hijack This programme in order to solve my 100% CPU usage problem.

I have followed to-the-letter all of Major Attitudes post regarding the initial steps involved to remove trojans etc.

Ad-Aware SE cleaned off 147 infected or suspect files
Trend Micros online scan found TROJ SMALL.JH, TROJ DELF.AA in 2 locations but couldn't clean them so I deleted the files.

Spybot finds something nearly everytime I run it suggesting that all is still not well. Common finds are: MediaPlex, DSO Exploit and Gain.Gator

Most of the other apps found nothing.

But my PC still pulls 100% of the cpu almost immediately after booting.

So I have downloaded HijackThis and run it. My log follows.

I'd be grateful if someone could help me with this. I did have a look at doing it myself ala chaslangs guidelines but got confused.

    Cheers.

Please follow forum guidelines. NO HJT posts unless requested and they MUST be attachments. Also we want it installed in a particular location. You are running it from a ZIP file. You will not get backups. Follow the steps below and post again properly.

Make sure you have HijackThis 1.99 and follow the guidelines on where to install it and how to post a log as an attachment. This is all covered in the sticky thread NO HIJACK THIS LOG FILES BEFORE READING THIS: HJT Tutorial & LOG File Posting

Now post a HijackThis as a .txt file attachment to your message. All running programs should be closed, including your web browser, e-mail. Close before running Hijack This!

To repeat: Do NOT run Hijack This from the Desktop, a temp folder, or a sub-folder of C:\Documents and Settings, or choose to run it directly from the downloaded ZIP file. Place it in its own folder, for example C:\Program Files\HJT

OK. I followed the guidlines and using the analysis links I think I may have suceeded in fixing the problem. CPU running at 27%. For the time being at least.

Thanks for your help and a great site.

    Hi Steve,

If you'd like us to doublecheck your log, please save it and attach it via the "Manage Attachments" tool in the Additional Options section when you post.

Also, if you need assistance locating HJT in its own folder, let me know.

    PP :)
