I've had ongoing problems with my Comcast cable connection for months, so I put ping plotter on the computer.

I'm still monitoring the connection because the behavior is beyond bizarre. It starts every week day at 9:00 AM and the modem drops out almost every 2 minutes until 4:15 PM, then it rock solid all night.

The first thing I noticed is without fail, Hop 2 always has 100% packet loss and I'm wondering if anyone has ideas what would cause that?

Hop 2 may be configured to not respond to ping requests.

I understand that, but I'm trying to understand why this would be set this way. Clearly, Hop 2 is set to not send out an ACK. But that timeout means my connection is slowed down considerably - one can observe the delay.

My next question is whether or not it is because of some setting on my router vs. at the provider.
