2 Questions about software

I am going to college for network security. I am in my third semester. I am running Windows XP Pro.

First what is a good registry cleaner? To clean your registry of useless stuff.

Second what is a good internet washer? One that if you delete something it is truely gone and not just sitting waiting to be writen over again. My professor told me about a old program called internet washer (I believe that is the right name).
