    Kind reader and spywarecop,

about two days ago, having just opened my eyes after a good nights sleep, i did the stupidest thing ever. Without thinking i downloaded this 3aw movieplayer, full of malware of course. Now i've been in these situations before and i always resort to your complete guide. Having followed all instructions, it seemed as though everything was gone. However, my pc is not running as it did before AND suddenly this weird 233.tmp file pops up in my c: root.

I've read some stuff about this and i've run proggies others suggested. No result this far. Explorer & lsass at times have rather high mem. usage, internet explorer opens slowly and my pc can overall handle less programs at a time.

I hope you'd have any suggestions for me and i hope you believe i followed the instructions. Furthermore, i've added a screenie of my c: root and the tmp file.

    Thanx a lot,
    Ray

If you have followed the required instructions, why didn't you attach the 6 logs that are requested and required in order to receive support? If the logs are not attach to a message that is requesting help, it basically means the instructions have not been followed.

You should just delete the c:\233.tmp file. But without the requested logs we cannot tell if you are clean or not.

    Right,...

well i didn't want to bother you with my logs and checked for myself to see if i was clean. Obviously i'm no expert, but i think there is other people more needy in this area than i am. Wrong choice maybe... Really, i'm not trying to get around your procedures, i KNOW they help and the've helped me so many times before. Please do not doubt my sincerity, i just stopped the procedure just before posting the logs.

    I'll do it again

I did it again, here are the logs i was able to create. Counterspy found nothing, nor did spybot. Bitdefender did not run on this pc, gave an error (as so many times before).

    Thanx,
    Ray

Uninstall the CounterSpy trial program now since we are finished with it. Do this before continuing.

Uninstall the below old versions of software:
    J2SE Runtime Environment 5.0 Update 11
    J2SE Runtime Environment 5.0 Update 6
    J2SE Runtime Environment 5.0 Update 9
    Java(TM) SE Runtime Environment 6 Update 1

Make sure you reboot after uninstalling the above!

After reboot, now install the current version of Sun Java from: Sun Java Runtime Environment

Run HijackThis (select Do a system scan only) and select the following lines but DO NOT CLICK FIX until you exit all browser sessions including the one you are reading in right now:

    F3 - REG:win.ini: run=
    O2 - BHO: (no name) - {7E853D72-626A-48EC-A868-BA8D5E23E045} - (no file)
    O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [WindowsServicesStartup] C:\DOCUME~1\Ray\LOCALS~1\Temp\svchost.exe 1
    O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [ReJf5vH] C:\WINDOWS\jbjoyo.exe
    O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [I downloaded pirated Software from P2P ] C:\WINDOWS\system32\0106.exe

And I see no reason why Encart needs to load this 4 time so fix all but one of the below:
    O4 - HKCU\..\Run: [E06AXLRD_74785187] "C:\Program Files\Microsoft Encarta\Encarta Premium DVD 2006\EDICT.EXE" -m
    O4 - HKCU\..\Run: [E06AXLRD_6200046] "C:\Program Files\Microsoft Encarta\Encarta Premium DVD 2006\EDICT.EXE" -m
    O4 - HKCU\..\Run: [E06AXLRD_13672859] "C:\Program Files\Microsoft Encarta\Encarta Premium DVD 2006\EDICT.EXE" -m
    O4 - HKCU\..\Run: [E06AXLRD_126000] "C:\Program Files\Microsoft Encarta\Encarta Premium DVD 2006\EDICT.EXE" -m

    After clicking Fix, exit HJT.

Now download The Avenger by Swandog46, and save it to your Desktop.
    • Extract avenger.exe from the Zip file and save it to your desktop
    • Run avenger.exe by double-clicking on it.
    • Check the 'Input script manually' box.
    • Click on the magnifying glass icon.
    • Copy everything in the Quote box below, and paste it in the box that opens:
    • Now click the 'Done' button.
    • Click on the traffic light icon and OK the prompt.
    • You will be prompted to restart, OK the prompt and your PC should reboot, if not, reboot it yourself.
    • A log file from Avenger will be produced at C:\avenger.txt
    Now run Ccleaner!

Now attach the below new logs and tell me how the above steps went.

    1. Avenger
    2. GetRunKey
    3. ShowNew
    4. HJT

Make sure you tell me how things are working now!

Reminder Note: Once we have determined you are malware free you will need to disable System Restore, reboot, and re-enable system restore per step 8 of the READ & RUN ME. This only applies to if using WinXP or WinMe.

Everything went well, except for the fact that avenger gave an error after having rebooted that it could not encounter the avenger.txt file and whether i wanted to make a new one. If you'd ask me though, i bet it did its work and all went fine, because during the process there were no errors whatsoever.

No Avenger did not work properly. Run the procedure with Avenger again but shutdown your antivirus and Windows Defender program first and then re-run the Avenger steps.

    To Disable Windows Defender:
    • Open Windows Defender
    • Click Tools
    • Click General Settings
    • Scroll down to Real Time Protection Options
    • Uncheck Turn on Real Time Protection (recommended)
    • Close Windows Defender
Once your log is clean you can re-enable Windows Defender Real Time Protection.

Attach the below new logs afterwards:
    1. Avenger
    2. ShowNew
    3. HJT

Your logs are clean. If you are not having any other malware problems, it is time to do our final steps:
    1. If we used Pocket Killbox during your cleanup, do the below
      • Run Pocket Killbox and select File, Cleanup, Delete All Backups
    2. If we used ComboFix, you can delete the ComboFix.exe file, C:\ComboFix folder, C:\QooBox folder, C:\WINDOWS\nircmd.exe, and the C:\combofix.txt log that was created.
    3. If we user SDFix you can delete all the SDFix related files and folders from your Desktop or whereever you installed it.
    4. If we used SmitFraudFix, you can delete all files and folders related to it now including the c:\rapport.txt log.
    5. If we used VundoFix, you can delete the VundoFix.exe file and the C:\VundoFix Backups folder and C:\vundofix.txt log that was created.
    6. If we had your run FixWareOut, you can delete the Fixwareout.exe file and the C:\fixwareout folder.
    7. If we had you run Avenger, you can delete all files related to Avenger now.
    8. If we had you download any registry patches like fixme.reg or fixWLK.reg (or any others), you can delete these files now.
    9. You can delete the ShowNew.Zip and GetRunkey.Zip files and the files that you extracted from the ZIP files. You can also delete the C:\newfiles.txt and C:\runkeys.txt logs that were created
    10. If you are running Windows XP or Windows ME, do the below:
      • go back to step 8 of the READ & RUN ME to Disable System Restore which will flush your Restore Points.
      • Then reboot and Enable System Restore to create a new clean Restore Point.
    11. After doing the above, you should work thru the below link:
