   Is there anyway of getting 256 colours on newer cards, that dont allow it in the options? All I can adjust to is 24bit or 32bit. I am wanting to play an older game, and to do so I need 256 colours

   If your running windows xp you can right click on the game icon and select properties>compatability and select 'Run in 256 Colours' from Display settings.
