320 gb drive reading in windows as 127 max

    My HD just got fried so i went to get one yesterday , picked up a 320gb one. My bios recognizes it as 320 but windows doesn't , I got the maxtor big drive enabler, and i got windows xp with sp2 but still it doesnt change ; ; please help me ><:cry

    It may be a hardware issue. You'll need a drive controller that is capable of 48-bit addressing. Maxtor's page at <http://www.seagate.com/www/en-us/support/knowledge_base/> will give you a bit more information. Check out the article headed "The operating system only recognizes 128 GB or 137 GB of my large capacity drive."

    You might want to tell us a bit about the hardware you have, eg.; operating system software, CPU, chipset, and BIOS date for a start.
