    Hellow everyone

After I installed Windows XP Service Pack 1 I noticed that I lost at least 4GB and as much as 5GB on my hard drive.
I did a search for large files and found none.
Does anyone know what has happened to this lost HD space?
What ,if anything, can I do to get it back?
When I install Service Pack 2 will I lose another 4-5MB?

    Thanks ...Rob

That's what it takes for the os ...includes space for system restore, prefetch, page files, etc. ....and no you won't "lose" that much with sp2.

I should have made my question a bit clearer.
What I installed is the SP1 update not the whole operating sysyem.
I have an 80 GB hard drive. Before I installed the update I had 39-40 GB left. After the SP1 update I had 35 GB.
