45 secs to log off on xp?

my computer takes ages to shut down, 45 seconds it was.
Are there any programs/tweaks to speed this up?

Try using the 3 cleaners available from MG - C Cleaner, Cleanup!, and Empty Temp.

Also, you could run memtest and see if any errors come up, and check what system processes should and shouldn't be running.
A full virus scan and spyware scan wouldn't go down too badly too.

Give those suggestions a try and then see how long it takes to shut down.
