I have noticed a trend lately (well it's been going back a bit now) that laptop keyboards seem to be moving towards an International layout rather than the US layout. I have a US layout, but why is it that the manufacturers keep with this trend? Many people I know aren't fond of the different layout, and say they would rather have the US layout.

Cheaper to produce one keyboard than several. That's why floppy drives started disappearing from desktops a few years back. Any why new computers no longer come with a windows disk or even a recovery disk. They want to save pennies here and there.
