I ran spybot and it brought up both of these along with normal tracking cookies. I had it fix the problems and it seemed to eliminate them from my computer. I have searched for any files associated with these two problems but can't find any. However, i have popups randomly showing up while using internet explorer. My computer seems to be running slow and typing in internet explorer seems not to work correctly at times. I have no idea what's wrong or how to fix. Here is my hijackthis log:

Logfile of Trend Micro HijackThis v2.0.2

Re: abetterinternet.aurora and virtmonde possibly still infected though doesn't show

i think i have the problem narrowed down to one file. it's located in my system32 folder. xxywXNfF.dll

it is also located in my registry in classes_root and local system in the CLSID/numbers/improcserver32.

even in safe mode i cannot delete out of system folder. i delete out of registry and it comes back.

how should i go about removing these?

Re: abetterinternet.aurora and virtmonde possibly still infected though doesn't show

i ran spybot, i ran vundofix, i ran smitfraudfix, i ran hijackthis, i manually went through the registry and deleted files, i ran pretty much everything that the things you want me to download would do. hidden files are shown. i tried to do the cmd to unregister the dll to delete it but it wont let me unregister.

i think i have it down to this one file that is in system32 folder and 2 spots in the registry. can you help me delete that?

Re: abetterinternet.aurora and virtmonde possibly still infected though doesn't show

You need to do only what we ask you to do in the READ & RUN ME and then attach the requested logs. Skip running any Special Removal procedures. If you edit the registry on your own, we cannot be responsible for what may happen.

    Hi bics,

Some malware has been deleted but there is still some left. Please go back and rerun SuperAntiSpyware and MalwareBytes and have them fix everything they find. Then attach the new logs along with a fresh MGTools.zip (rerun the tools by going to the MGTools folder under C and find the GetLogs.bat file. Double-click on it and wait the minute or so for it to run to completion when you'll get the message hit any key to close the window).

Re: abetterinternet.aurora and virtmonde possibly still infected though doesn't show

Why are you running this PC without any protection? You have no antivirus or antispyware protection and do not have a real bidirectional firewall installed.

After doing what Abri suggested, continue with the below steps.

Uninstall Spybot - Search & Destroy 1.3 which is at least 3 years out of date.

You have 13 old Sun Java versions installed which we requested that you uninstall in step 1 of the READ ME. Please uninstall the below now:

    J2SE Runtime Environment 5.0 Update 10
    J2SE Runtime Environment 5.0 Update 11
    J2SE Runtime Environment 5.0 Update 2
    J2SE Runtime Environment 5.0 Update 4
    J2SE Runtime Environment 5.0 Update 6
    J2SE Runtime Environment 5.0 Update 9
Java 2 Runtime Environment, SE v1.4.2_03
Java 2 Runtime Environment, SE v1.4.2_05
Java 2 Runtime Environment, SE v1.4.2_06
    Java(TM) 6 Update 2
    Java(TM) 6 Update 3
    Java(TM) 6 Update 5
    Java(TM) SE Runtime Environment 6 Update 1

Also uninstall LiveUpdate 1.80 (Symantec Corporation)

Run C:\MGtools\analyse.exe by double clicking on it (Note: if using Vista, don't double click, use right click and select Run As Administrator). This is really HijackThis (select Do a system scan only) and select the following lines but DO NOT CLICK FIX until you exit all browser sessions including the one you are reading in right now:

    O2 - BHO: (no name) - {5D1B6E4E-14A3-4060-9CA1-BC2783DEDEA7} - (no file)
    O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [SunJavaUpdateSched] "C:\Program Files\Java\jre1.6.0_05\bin\jusched.exe"
    O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [QuickTime Task] "C:\Program Files\QuickTime\qttask.exe" -atboottime

    After clicking Fix, exit HJT.

Now we need to use ComboFix to remove a bunch of malware files.
    • Make sure that combofix.exe that you downloaded while doing the READ & RUN ME is on your Desktop but Do not run it!
      • If it is not on your Desktop, the below will not work.
    • Open Notepad and copy/paste the text in the below quote box into it:
    • Save the above as CFscript.txt and make sure you save it to the same location (should be on your Desktop) as ComboFix.exe
    • At this point, you MUST EXIT ALL BROWSERS NOW before continuing!
    • You should have both the ComboFix.exe and CFScript.txt icons on your Desktop.
    • Now use your mouse to drag CFscript.txt on top of ComboFix.exe
    • Follow the prompts.
    • When it finishes, a log will be produced named c:\combofix.txt
    • I will ask for this log below
    Note:

Do not mouseclick combofix's window while it is running. That may cause it to stall.

After reboot, now install the current version of Sun Java from: Sun Java Runtime Environment

Copy the bold text below to notepad. Save it as fixme.reg to your desktop. Be sure the "Save as" type is set to "all files" Once you have saved it double click it and allow it to merge with the registry.
Make sure that you tell me if you receive a success message about adding the above
to the registry. If you do not get a success message, it definitely did not work.

    Now run Ccleaner!

Now run the C:\MGtools\GetLogs.bat file by double clicking on it.

    Then attach the below logs:
    • C:\ComboFix.txt
    • C:\MGlogs.zip
Make sure you tell me how things are working now!

Re: abetterinternet.aurora and virtmonde possibly still infected though doesn't show

here are the logs from the second message that was requested. i believe they would be the updated files. the combofix.txt wouldnt upload because it said it was already uploaded in this thread.

i did everything that you asked, deleted all the files and ran the programs. the only thing that hasn't been completed yet is downloading the new java because i'm currently using dial up and its a pretty slow process. otherwise i believe i did everything you wanted.

actually, i was in the process of downloading an antivirus program before giving this computer to my parents, and i contracted these problems through that. ironic really. but i've had it for over 4 years and never came across virus problems so thats why i elected not to purchase an antivirus program.

after i did everything the first time around, before your messages, the popups stopped and the problem seemed solved. i haven't used the computer enough right now to know if any more difference was made after the things you just asked me to do. but still running better than it was.

Re: abetterinternet.aurora and virtmonde possibly still infected though doesn't show

Do you recognize what the files in the below folder are for?

    C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM32\E177E04D548C4006A465EEB92D3DE021

Are these related to manifestogames.com ?

    Your logs are clean!

If you are not having any other malware problems, it is time to do our final steps:
    1. You can uninstall SUPERAntiSpyware now.
    2. We recommed you keep Malwarebytes Anti-Malware as a scanner. It uses no resources except a little disk space until you run a scan.
    3. If we had you use ComboFix, uninstall ComboFix (This uninstall will only work as written if you installed ComboFix on your Desktop & renamed it like we requested.)
      • Click START then RUN and enter the below into the run box and then click OK. Note the quotes are required
      • "%userprofile%\Desktop\cf" /u
        • Notes: The space between the cf" and the /u, it must be there.
        • This will uninstall ComboFix and also reset hidden files and folders settings back to Windows defaults.
      • Delete the C:\cf folder from combofix.
    4. If we used SmitFraudFix, you can delete all files and folders related to it now including the c:\rapport.txt log.
    5. If we used VundoFix, you can delete the VundoFix.exe file and the C:\VundoFix Backups folder and C:\vundofix.txt log that was created.
    6. If we had you download any registry patches like fixme.reg or fixWLK.reg (or any others), you can delete these files now.
    7. If running Vista, it is time to make sure you have reenabled UAC by double clicking on the C:\MGtools\enableUAC.reg file and allowing it to be added to the registry.
    8. Go to add/remove programs and uninstall HijackThis.
    9. You can delete the C:\MGtools folder and the C:\MGtools.exe file. You can also delete the C:\MGlogs.zip
    10. If you are running Vista, Windows XP or Windows ME, do the below:
      • Refer to the cleaning steps in the READ ME for your Window version and see the steps to Disable System Restore which will flush your Restore Points.
      • Then reboot and Enable System Restore to create a new clean Restore Point.
    11. After doing the above, you should work thru the below link:
