Accessing another compute remotely for troubleshooting?

My mom and I live in different states. She's computer-proficient enough to get into trouble, but not to get out of it. =\ I can help her with some problems when I'm visiting her but there are still a lot of issues I could fix quickly here from home if I could just take control of her computer from mine remotely.

Is there a simple program she and I can download so I can run her computer, I suppose like an IT company would do I guess? I wouldn't want control all the time, just something that we'd both fire up and would then let her allow me access to easily diagnose these problems.

Check out TeamViewer - I've not used it, but it looks fairly easy and useful, and you can't beat the price.

 

I'll second Caliban's suggestion; I use TV a couple of times each month, sometimes more, and have done for several years now. It just works for me, others that I tried worked - sometimes.

It's updated fairly regularly so make a point of checking for updates on both sides before starting a session.

www.logmein.com/ has a 30 day full featured, but then goes to a slightly limited version after 30 days. If you dont need remote printing its another excellent tool.
