I tried to hook my acer up to the tv. It has been done before I had to go in and change the display settings. I have no idea what I did the screen never showed up on the tv and now all I have is a blank screen it wont even let me log in! How can I get back in so I can change my display back to normal?

 

Start in safe mode, which is normally F8 at startup.
Right click a blank spot on the desktop and select properties.
Click on the advanced tab and change so that the laptop screen is selected and the display is the normal resolution you use.
If you have a 15.6" screen then the default resolution is WXGA (1366x768) HD.

 

Or do a system restore to before it got AFU'd.
The normal on all laptops is that you want the external display/projector/TV connected and on the proper input when you turn on the laptop. It then detects the display properly.

There is probably some DOS command but I don't know how to do it if you can't see anything.

 

Press and hold the power button for 4-6 seconds to force it to turn off. Turn it back on and, while the Acer logo is displayed hit the F8 key several times to get the boot menu.
Use the up/down arrows to choose repair my compter. Pick your language and username, then choose System Restore in the menu. Pick an entry which says Windows Update or Critical Update and walk on through .
After the reboot, you'll be fixed
