AD-Aware 2008 free scanning stuck

    Hallo, thanks for yr support, i have a question maybe you can help,

    I am using ad-ware 2008 free but when i make a full scan as usual it gets stuck on an file wich is "SPWIZUI.DLL.MUI".

    I think is a file created by VISTA windows update service pack 1

    Then i restarted the system in temporary mode and had a full scan again but it took 8 hours 'couse it stays long hours on "scanning inside archive", WHY ????

    Is there a way to solve this out and make it run properly ?

    Hi

    Ad-Aware has had problems scanning archive files in the past and looks to still have this issue for some with no clear cause or file.

    So try this in Ad-Aware click Settings > Scanning and put a cross in Deep Scanning Archive and try a scan again.

    thanks for Yr help,:)

    so putting a cross in Deep Scanning Archive i guess will disable to scan in the archive and might be there somekind of suspicious file we want to find, so we dont isn'it ?

    Hi

    Yes it will disable deep scanning of archives but as Ad-Aware is having issues with scanning of these files, your only options are to scan them and leave the scan for hours/days or use another malware scanner.

    Is your Ad-Aware fully upto date with latest version?


    Or alternative is SuperAntiSpyware like the free version of Ad-Aware it only offers manual scanning and removal of malware and not live resident scanning, but I have found it personally much better than Ad-Aware.
