firstly guys i just want to congratulate you on a truly excellent site, i am a newbie to majorgeeks and already i love it!! keep up the great work

i am having problems with my newly downloaded ad-aware se 'free' personal software, i am running a full scan and it always freezes around 1100 objects read, its not even getting close!! the file varies as to which one is causing the problem but the last line in the log always says #19 wind32.exe if that helps!!

i am trying to follow your tutorial as you suggest but this is as far as i can go, i am really desperate for your advice as my pc at the moment is amazingly slow, for 1mb broadband my internet speed is less than dial-up!!

i would be really grateful for any assistance you could provide
    cheers

Welcome to MG. I think AdAware takes longer to check some programs than others. MIne takes longer on DLL's for example. If it gets through to the end eventually, I wouldn't worry too much about it. Maybe uninstall, clean Registry, download and install a fresh copy, to see if that helps. Bazza

There are two types of worms that wind32.exe usually related to:

    the FORBOT-AH
    the AGOBOT-BZ

You should run ALL the steps in this Sticky thread READ ME FIRST BEFORE ASKING FOR SUPPORT: Basic Spyware, Trojan And Virus Removal
If you already have any of the programs linked in the tutorial please double check your version to make sure you have the latest one and that you have any/all updates for the programs.

NOTE: In order to resolve the issues you are having it is very important that you at least try to perform all the steps as outlined. If you have any difficulty please post back letting us know what steps you have completed, what you found while doing the scans if anything and details about any problems you have encountered in completing the steps. The more details you can provide the better.

Try waiting a little longer on Ad-Aware SE and see if it gets past that point. If not, run all the other steps first then come back to Ad-Aware SE later. Make sure you update Ad-Aware SE. The reference file changed just today.
